TEHRAN TIMES CITY DESK TEHRAN A member of the Board Directors of Iran Touring and Tourism Organization (ITTO) Mohsen Emami was appointed yesterday as the head of the Headquarters of Year 2001, year of visiting Iran, by ITTO's Head Moezeddin. A general assembly of World Tourism Organization (WTO), in its last session held in Chile, approved Iran's proposal on the motto of tourism sector in the year 2001 under the title of Tourism, a Means for Making Peace and Dialog Among Civilizations Across the World'. It also approved Iran being a host to the international ceremonies to be held on World Tourism Day in 2001. This measure taken by the WTO could be considered as a suitable response to President Khatami's initiative of dialog among civilizations. Among the objectives behind the establishment of Headquarters of Year 2001 are practical fulfillment of the initiative by promoting tourism industry in Iran, introducing Islamic-Iranian culture, art, history and civilization as well as Iran's tourist attractions.
