IRANIAN EMBASSY CIRCULATES STATEMENT ON JAN KALITSKI'S DISLIKE FOR ARMENIAN- IRANIAN GAS COOPERATION

Jan Kalitski, aide to the US trade secretary, by voicing his dislike over the Iranian -Armenian cooperation in the gas sector intervenes in regional questions and, particularly, in their bilateral relations. This is said in a statement circulated by the press service of the Iranian embassy in Armenia. It goes on to say that such statements contravene healthy international relations, stand in the way of economic cooperation and free market-economy relations.
"Certain forces have mistaken the Caucasus for the Caribbean and think they can by means of a financial policy keep in hand the world, which is moving towards freedom and democracy",
On February 28 Kalitski stressed that the United States is against Armenia's power supply to become dependent on Iran . Simultaneously, he said that Washington hails the development of political relations between Armenia and Iran . (nov/var)
