Qeshm, Hormozgan Province, 6th March: The private sector with an initial 1bn-dollar investment will build an oil refinery on the island of Qeshm, south of the country, said managing director of the Qeshm Free Trade Zone Behruz Bushehri here Monday [6th March]. Talking to IRNA, Bushehri added that it will be Iran 's first ever private refinery and the biggest project launched in the country's free trade zones. He did not give any date for the start of the construction work of the project but stressed that an agreement has been reached on ceding a plot of land to a Euro- Iranian investment company to build the refinery. According to Bushehri, following the completion of the project, the refinery will export abroad 1bn-dollars worth of oil products per annum and some 2,000 job opportunities will be created.
