tehran, feb. 28, irna -- the norwegian ambassador to iran svein aass said here monday that his country is ready to import pistachios, dates and other foodstuff from iran. in a meeting with agriculture minister issa kalantari, the norwegian envoy said that his country is also ready to cooperate with iran in fisheries. he reiterated oslo's offer to export environmental-friendly pesticides to iran. kalantari stressed the importance of the agricultural sector's employment generating capacity, specially for the younger generation, and the need to invest in the sector. he added that given the country's inadequate water supply, efforts have been made to boost the irrigation efficiency ratio to 65 percent in the next 15 years. the sector, he said, not only makes do without government subsidies, but it also supports the consumers.
